How Can I Help?

Trades Professionals Needed

Occasionally our elderly and homebound residents need minor home repairs that their fixedincome cannot cover. We are always in need of Trades Professionals volunteers to help out in these instances. The DPCF can cover the cost of materials if you can provide the build/repair skills. We seek contractors and construction professionals working with carpentry, concrete, roofing, plumbing, appliance and electric services.

Student and Community Service Volunteers

Are you looking for volunteer hours? If so, we can help you with that! Opportunities consist of minor snow removal, lawn care, general food deliveries, creating "Thank for Your Serviceā€¯ cards for our local veterans, helping with meal prep and delivery on Thanksgiving Day, and more. Reach out to us today!

Local Businesses Needed

Can your service business, storefront or restaurant contribute to our foundation? Join great local
businesses like Sunrise Grill, Pescheā€™s Flowers, Peetā€™s Coffee, Zanies Comedy Club and more!
We are always seeking donated goods and services and weā€™d love to recognize you and your business for your generosity. You can contribute a monetary donation and/or goods and services in an effort to connect with the people here in your town.

Corporate Sponsors

Join our list of amazing corporate sponsors who have generously supported our efforts over the
years. They have consisted of Sysco Foods, Alliant Credit Union, BMO Harris Bank, Sun Prairie Financial, Pescheā€™s Flowers, Franczak & Assc., Chicago Mar Thoma Church, United Airlines and more. Corporate donations are what keep our efforts funded and they allow us to make a huge positive impact within our community.

Thanksgiving Day:

Each year the Des Plaines Community Foundation, along with the dedicated support of Sunrise
Grill and Sysco Foods, prepares and delivers hundreds of warm comforting Thanksgiving Day
meals to our homebound, elderly, and disabled low-income neighbors. You can be a part of this great mission each year by volunteering to help prepare and deliver these meals on ThanksgivingĀ morning. It is a wonderful and joy-filled annual event.

Safe Drivers Needed

Occasionally, our non-driving elderly community may need a safe ride to a local doctorā€™s appointment, grocery store, or help with a special errand. Local volunteers with a safe vehicle and driving records are encouraged to reach out. There is nothing quite as fulfilling as helping a neighbor in need.

Lawn-care and Snow Removal

We welcome all volunteers, both professional and novice, to help your neighbors who lack the physical ability to address these home-care tasks. These specific tasks are great for students looking to accumulate volunteer hours for school.
